BAY AREA ACTUAL OBSERVATIONS: RAINBOW BRITE

 I saw this girl on bart and knew she had to be recorded into my sketchpad. The colors on her sweater and shoes were actually neon, but I didn't have neon pencils so I made do, and no that was not a wig. Her hair was actually dyed in a rainbow. One of my favorite reasons for riding BART in the bay area is getting to observe all the 'colorful' folks that frequent it.

They don't lay chocolate eggs or leave baskets full of future cavities atop a nest of non biodegradable plastic grass shreds, but hey who doesn't love jack rabbits. Enjoy Easter weekend everyone!

TRAIN HEIST EXTRAS FOR DESIGNING FOR SHOTS

Here's another sneak peek at some of the work I've been doing for my designing for shots class. This was my first time using a Cintiq for this sort of work and it made me wish I was fortunate enough to own one. Believe it or not I consider these sketches. The power of Wacom and they're magical yet overpriced gadgetry. There's no turing back once you see that a cintiq cuts your design time in half.

DESIGNING FOR SHOTS: DESERT PLANT LIFE

 Here are some pictures from a couple weeks ago of plant life I worked on for the story "the Heist" in my designing for shots class. Even drab deserts can be beautiful. Enjoy!

SAN FRANCISCO CHINATOWN SKETCHCRAWL

 I went to a sketch event in San Francisco last weekend. I walked around the Chinese street fair for a little while at first, but finally sat down and decided to draw. For some strange reason I have a tendency to choose some of the most complicated buildings. I'd like to say it's because I'm giving myself a challenge, but really it's just because that's what I like to draw. This one took a while to finish, but it's the second time my environmental sketch took two pages to complete. I actually really wished it was possible to spread it to a third page past St. Mary's church.

"Couples the spy together pry together"

 This is a quick illustration of James Stewart and Grace Kelly from one of my favorite movies, Rear Window.  I rushed through the drawing on this one, and realized about halfway through that I was relying a little too much on people seeing the movie to decipher the story. Maybe it's just me overanalyzing my own work. I do still enjoy it and had fun working on it. I just might have to do another one in the future.
